History

Welcome to my world of music! I'm Chris Dunn, a full-time woodwind specialist, guitarist, pianist, and vocalist with over 30 years of dedicated teaching experience. I've earned a respected position in music education, particularly known for my expertise in flute, clarinet, saxophone, and guitar.

I've been successfully sharing my musical knowledge with both school-aged children and adults for more than three decades. My teaching journey includes impactful stints at renowned institutions like Carey Grammar (30 years), Wesley Grammar, Mt. Waverley Secondary College, Eltham College (10 years), Auburn South Primary School (30 years), Alphington Primary School, and Essex Heights Primary School. Additionally, I operate a thriving home studio, providing a comfortable and focused environment for my students.

In the realm of concert band leadership, during my time at Auburn South Primary School, I showcased my leadership skills by forming a 30-piece concert band. This ensemble not only thrived under my guidance but also achieved the honor of performing at the Yamaha Band Festival for three successive years.

I take pride in my achievements in music education, particularly in preparing higher-performing students for AMEB exams, ranging from 1st grade to Associate level, as well as VCE exams. My students consistently achieve high levels of success, with many earning scholarships for prestigious institutions like Carey and MLC.

My teaching philosophy goes beyond instrumental skills. I believe in a comprehensive program that includes a focus on rhythm, aural training, and theoretical aspects of music. This well-rounded approach ensures that students not only master their instruments but also develop a deep understanding of the foundations of music.

Curious about the results? I offer a unique opportunity for prospective students and parents to view some of my students' exam reports, showcasing the tangible outcomes of my effective teaching methods.

Embark on a musical journey with me, where passion meets expertise, and students thrive in an environment of musical excellence. Contact me today to explore the enriching world of woodwind and instrumental music.
